I worked in a relatively minor position on THE WILD ROBOT movie and I adore it. I'm deliriously happy about the great reviews and all the love it's getting out there in the world.

It was such a beautiful film. “Kindness is a survival skill” seems to be an emerging theme in film this decade and I am here for it. This made me sob so much.

I feel you on the passage of time and the gradual losses that parenting entails (of your baby, toddler, little kid, and for me now, big kid). I'm glad this movie is so good!

My neurodivergent son loved it so much he’s going back for a second viewing.

I feel like we had similar experiences with MEGALOPOLIS and THE WILD ROBOT. I saw Coppola's trainwreck on opening night and watched the gorgeous and powerful ROBOT only two days later and man, what a contrast. The former is a movie ostensibly about the power of art and ideas to move people and yet not a single actor in the whole damn thing comes across as a living, breathing human being. The movie about a robot and a whole bunch of animals though? It left our whole family emotional and grateful that art and humanity like that exists in the world.

Your reflection beautifully captures the parallel between Roz's robotic nature and the neurodivergent experience. The bittersweet journey of parenthood, as seen through Roz and Brightbill, resonates deeply, especially in your personal connection with your son. It’s a heartfelt reminder of the complexity and power of human connection.

Wild robot was the first chapter book I read with my son (recently 11), so I'm not sure I can watch it because having a middle schooler is a lot all on its own.
