I don’t know why, but I’ve never had any interest in any Jurassic Park movie. Maybe I’m not that into dinosaurs, but it doesn’t seem to be any sort of problem.
On Chris Pratt - I feel like for better or worse he’s our Burt Reynolds. Easy, dry charm reflecting the masculinity barometer of the day, an undeniable star quality that’s been overshadowed by too many projects with too little to offer. If late 70’s to early 80’s cinema had suffered from our tent pole fever you know he would have been hoisting up every one of them.
Totally unrelated; check out my Stroker Ace reboot spec on the Black List! It’s a dark and gritty prequel that leans hard into the bloody rise of Clyde Torkel’s Chicken Pit franchise and the origin of Stroker’s first pair of tight pants. Lots of buzz!
Gareth Edwards and Colin Treverrow both started out with indie films that I liked very much: Edwards with "Monsters" and Treverrow with "Safety Not Guaranteed". It can be a little rough when a filmmaker jumps from indies straight into the mega-franchise machine, but I'm curious to see what kind of work they end up doing once they find a way out. (See also: Chloe Zhao)
Chris is a great actor and his bond with Blue was amazing. I agree that every few movies we need new characters to see how they deal with dinosaurs but your forced hatred of Chris isn't it.
I’m a new subscriber who joined because of Nathan’s work at the AV Club back in the day. I feel compelled to ask… what’s with the image of Keebler-Elf-looking guy with the blue hat that’s in every review?
Nathan likes to end his articles these days with a disturbing but stupid image from a mainstream film. For a while he was ending everything with a picture of Will Smith and Orc Joel Edgerton dressed in their formal cop uniforms from the end of Bright. Currently he’s using CGI Dopey from that lousy live action Snow White.

So what don't you like about Chris Pratt—other than his being a Jesus Freak and you being Jewish...?
And you don't find Scarlett Johansson just as overexposed as Pratt?
ScarJo is an objectively better actor than Pratt and so her presence is far less objectionable.
