I just got back from this trip of a movie (sober). It's the most expensive B movie I have ever seen and it definitely lives up to the hype. If you love comedy horror like Tucker & Dale vs. Evil this will be in your "to watch again" collection for years to come. Silly dialogue and good character development plus rediculous CGI bear equals fun for a very specific demographic.
Sounds to me like it's just the kind of Badfilm I'd enjoy even though controlled substances and I no longer play well together. I'm glad to hear it lives down to its premise....
I saw this pretty much back-to-back with M3GAN, so I'm destined to link these two films together for eternity. That said, they have a similar bonkers tone - this more comedic, obviously - and make a pretty solid, silly, fun horror-comedy double feature.
I'm also impressed that Elizabeth Banks made this movie. I may have seen Pitch Perfect 2, but it was really following a blueprint already laid out for it, and I didn't see the latest Charlie's Angels she directed, but this one I'm sure subverts anyone who doesn't think she can pull off material this wild, brutal, and funny, and yet somehow surprisingly light. And to paraphrase Jay & Silent Bob - Elizabeth Banks was the bomb in Brightburn! Yeah, I know she didn't direct it, but that's a movie that kept surprising me as it went along, right through the ending credits. Totally worth a look!
Hmm, I'll have to figure out a way to get some friends together to watch this once Baby Amaz can spend the evening with a sitter.
