No, but this was the last movie that did almost all it's stunts practically. They really dropped cars out of planes. 70% landed in the right drop zone so they used those takes. They had cars up on cranes and dropped them from as high as possible with stuntmen in them and edited the two things together so it looked seamless. CGI was used to erase safety equipment and to blend the two stunts.
After this they slowly started to use more and more CGI but they have been very dedicated to blowing s**t up real good.
No, that was more of Nathan's patented irony. However, it is possible to parachute a car from a plane. You just need a way to cushion the landing...either through literal cushions, or by transferring the motion from vertical to lateral.
