In a way, it might be a bit therapeutic, since there is an actual comeuppance for BS Behavior. If the end is reenacted in the real world right now, his approval ratings would probably go up. *sigh*
Every David Cronnenberg movie I've seen has (to me) this one trait: they are as long as they need to be. Every time I watch one of his movies and I start to think "okay, I think this movie can end now," it does within five minutes. With "The Dead Zone," the length of this film is perfect. I cannot say about most movies.
Holy crap! I just got done watching this movie for the very first time. Kinda feel like an idiot for not having seen it sooner. It was so good! Frankly, I haven't had this much of a reaction to films I generally like, but it was so solid and held up incredibly for its age. Sorry for the rambling, just really liked it! Thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah, I remember this being in the theater I worked at, and I saw it a couple of times. It was impressive, both in atmosphere and pacing and what a cast! Cronenberg did a great job with this; it's one of the best King adaptations I've seen.
And it certainly is timely; King himself has commented on similarities between Stillson and Cheeto. Narcissism and sociopathy has a "look", I guess.
Almost sounds too much like our current world for me to watch right now.

It's Cronenberg's most mainstream movie, and he show that if you really want that from him, he can deliver the goods.
It's also justly one of the best Stephen King adaptations out there.
