A Big, Bad Idea for My Next Project Here: All of the Saturday Night Live Movies?
Should I follow up my Ernest P. Worrell series with a look at all the Saturday Night Live movies?
So I have been burning my way through the Ernest P. Worrell series. I just watched Ernest Scared Stupid and will write it up imminently, after which point I will almost be half done.
I want to always have several things going on concomitantly on this here site in order to give you ULTIMATE VALUE for either your five or zero dollars a month (I prefer it to be five!). I’ll be reviewing two new movies a week and covering the entire filmography of James Belushi on a film per week basis, which will take over two years but I’ll be done with Ernest within the next two months.
I always want to have a secondary quest going on so what do you all think of me following up the Ernest series with a look at all of the films that have been spun-off from the popular late night sketch show Saturday Night Live?
I’d start in 1979 with Mr. Mike’s Mondo Video and end with MacGruber and cover
everything in between, including Office Space, which is technically an SNL movie since the character of Milton originated on the show.
It seems like a good fit for my sensibility and something y’all might enjoy.
If you’re not crazy about this idea do you have any others for projects that might be right for this Substack? They don’t have to be good! In fact, they can actually be QUITE bad, I’d love for this newsletter to be more interactive and to hear more from y’all about what you want and how I can give it to you.
This seem like great project, partly because it very odd canon of films to be explored, and partly because me am never going to spend 90 minutes of my life watching It's Pat or Night At Roxbury, but am still very curious.
This would make the project larger, so I understand if it’s too unwieldy, but I think it would be cool to also include brief writeups on the sketches that inspired the movie
