Tremendously exciting The Fractured Mirror book news!
It's been a long time coming, but it's almost here!
I have tremendously exciting news to share! Today I ordered paperback proofs for The Fractured Mirror. In mere days, I’ll hold the book in my hands for the first time! That is TREMENDOUSLY exciting!
In equally exciting news, I got my very first choice, the legendary Joe Dante, director of Hollywood Boulevard, Piranha, The Howling, Gremlins, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, The Burbs, and Matinee, to write a very kind and generous foreword. As someone with the world’s lowest self-esteem, it was tremendously validating having one of my creative heroes wax rhapsodic about the insane amount of time and effort and heart I put into this 548-page manifesto.
And, in a tribute to The Golden Turkey Awards, which listed one fake movie alongside a bunch of real ones, I had bad movie podcast royalty like Paul Scheer of How Did This Get Made?, Dan McCoy of The Flop House, and Andrew Jupin of We Hate Movies write blurbs for fake movies. I also contributed one, as did author Mike Sacks. So there’s one phony movie for every 100 real ones.
I’d love to get some more blurbs, but after 3 to 10 years, I’ve finally reached a place where I can press the “publish paperback” button on Amazon and make the magic happen, though it may take some time for Amazon to approve the manuscript.
I’d love to do as much press as possible for the book, so if you’re interested in having me on your podcast, get at me, and I will make it happen. I’ve worked so hard and so long on this book that it’s tremendously exciting that soon I’ll be able to share it with y’all!
Thanks to my brilliant book designer, Mariana, and amazing illustrator, Felipe Sobreiro. In semi-related news, Felipe also did the illustrations for the official Blues Brothers graphic novel sequel to The Blues Brothers, complete with an introduction from Dan Aykroyd. It comes out on November 18th. I hope they don’t try to piggyback on the overwhelming excitement and anticipation around The Fractured Mirror, but you gotta do what ya gotta do.
Lastly, in a weird coincidence, Ace Frehley, whose 1978 instrumental Fractured Mirror gave the book its title, died yesterday from a fall. Today, The Fractured Mirror was born, in a weird kind of way.
I’m BACK, back in a book-promoting groove!
Cycle of life, baby! Cycle of life!
You can pre-order, at a discount, The Fractured Mirror here.

As a proud backer on kickstarter that effectively makes me a patron of your great art. I know that when I finally have the book in my hands, I will feel like Pope Julius II seeing the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel for the first time.
Tremendous news! And what an amazing get for the foreword! That is bigger than I ever would have thought. I'm now ready and eager for the promotional juggernaut!
