When Affleck goes out the door and sees basically a shitty studio backlot with signs like “BANK” and “PARKING”, that’s when my guffaws were the loudest.
this seems like one of those movies where Rodriguez is all "Isn't it cool? We shot this scene in my garage and put a filter on it!" but it is very apparent that everything is being done on the cheap, and not necessarily in a fun or charming way either.
...William Fichtner, in the William Fichtner role...
If there's one thing I don't like, it's William Fichtner in a throwaway role. I first noticed him as a love interest for Brett Butler in "Grace Under Fire" and really enjoyed his performance. Then shortly after I saw him in "Virtuosity" and thought, "well, he wasn't great there." Along comes "Go" and I'm a solid fan now. I was actually excited to see him in the beginning of "The Dark Knight" too, but was a little bummed he was only in the one scene. He even elevated the later seasons of "Mom" in a "what the hell is he doing in this?" role. As long as it's a William Fichtner role, I'm glad to see him in it.
Any exploding heads in this movie? It sounds like it's Rodriguez doing a riff on Scanners. Of course I haven't seen Scanners in 25+ years...so, to revise, it sounds to me like Rodriguez is doing a riff on what I vaguely recall Scanners being about....

The stated budget was $65 million! Where did that money go?!
Robert Rodriguez's hat collection.
To Ben Affleck and his agent.
It honestly pretty remarkable that Affleck make such good choices as director and such baffling choices as actor.
I think it would be totally cool to hang out with William Fichtner and make a movie with Robert Rodriguez in Austin. Where do I sign up?

This really does sound like "Sharkboy and Lava Girl for grownups", which is something I didn't realize I needed.
Bennifer is the bomb diggy in this. Fuck yah.
