I pay reverent tribute to one of the quintessential Chicago movies.
Michael Mann directed two of the all-time great Los Angeles movies in 1996’s Heat and 2004’s Collateral. But Mann is a Chicago guy who got the hell out of Chicago and became one of our most revered auteurs. Mann’s directorial career began with 1981’s Thief, a love letter to the Windy City that has much in common with his L.A masterpieces.
