Bill Murray has only directed or co-directed a single film but it is a hoot and a half!
When Jonathan Demme became available, Bill Murray, the producer and star, and Howard Franklin, the screenwriter of Quick Change respectively, couldn’t agree on a replacement director so they chose to co-direct themselves. While it’s tempting to imagine just how amazing Quick Change would have been with an all-time great auteur at the helm rather than an actor and a writer co-directing what would become their sole directorial, or co-directorial efforts, it’s hard to complain about the job Murray and Franklin did.
