Sometimes you learn something about a movie that makes you see it in a new way. While researching my Control Nathan Rabin 4.0 entry on Mars Attacks! I learned that Tim Burton wanted to build on the iconic, zeitgeist-capturing success of The Nightmare Before Christmas and use stop-motion animation for its malevolent martians.
