Last week
I posted all over the internet that my subscriber count here is so modest that if I were to add ten paid subscribers, I’d reach a giddy new high. While that might not matter to most, it would be nice to do something that grows in popularity over time, even modestly, rather than the reverse.
In the interim, I have lost two more paid subscribers. If 10 out of the 1,450 people with free subscriptions were to upgrade, it wouldn’t just make my day; it would make my week and be incredibly validating.

I will become a paid subscriber once my financial situation improves, I won’t bore you with details aside from saying I’m on the ltd-ssdi pipeline and can’t afford new patreons/substacks until I can get back on my feet (and in fact I’ve cancelled almost everything I once was a patron or reader of). but I’m a huge fan of your writing from back in the day and I only recently discovered your substack. I’m loving it so far. Thanks for doing it.
