There you go again, Nabin—just like that pissant David Ehrlich over on INDIEWIRE, hating on Coppola's Magnum Opus Penguin.

While I certainly wouldn't call MEGALOPOLIS a "total masterpiece", I think it's a mix of genius, caméra-stylo (where the camera is wielded like a writer's pen), and...yeah, utter What-the-Fuck?ery. It's both not at all what I expected going in, and exactly what I expected from Coppola's last Big One—an intensely-personal and completely grandiose epic mission statement from the biggest cinema artist and proud fraud since Orson Welles. I agree with most of what you hate about it...but I still really kind of love every insanely contrived second of it.

I think it's both brilliant and out of its Vulcan Mind—and that's how I enjoyed it.

Seeing this in my inbox (and, yes, reading it all over again) kickstarted an earworm I got the first time around...

"Mr. Catalina, Mr. Caesar Catalina ... Mr Catalina, Mr. Caesar Catalina..."

Monkees or Del tha Funky Homosapien, take yer pick.
